Chetna Vikas is a non-profit, non-governmental organization working in more than 450 rural villages of Deoghar and Dumka Districts, Jharkhand State, India. The organization promotes sustainable, agro-based livelihood and income-generation activities through the facilitation of self-help groups within vulnerable communities. In particular, Chetna Vikas supports tribal, economically disadvantaged, and rights-deprived sections of society, with particular emphasis on subsistence farmers, women, children, and the disabled. The motivating force behind all Chetna Vikas activities is Gandhian ideology as it pertains to the alleviation of human suffering and injustice, and the development of vulnerable people.
Chetna Vikas’ webBlog is intended to provide you with an open forum to exchange ideas, information and debate about the issues we address, and about the communities with whom we work. In particular, like-spirited organizations are welcome to submit informative articles about similar grassroots work in India or in another country.
